Europe complains of being isolated from Russia in talks with the United States on Ukraine

European ministers complained on Thursday that they were left with the impression that they were isolated from US-Russian talks on the continent's future, and said Washington had never coordinated as much with the EU as it does now, Reuters reported.

Consultations with US and Russian officials resumed in Vienna on Thursday at the 57-nation Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe after ministerial talks between Moscow and Washington in Geneva on Tuesday and between Russia and NATO in Brussels on Wednesday failed. lead to clear progress.

During talks in Vienna, EU foreign ministers met symbolically for nearly 2,000 kilometers in the western French city of Brest to downplay their absence over the past few days and emphasize unity and coordination with Washington.

"All the criticism I have heard in the last few days that Europe does not exist, is not present, has been rejected and is not on the table - sorry, but they have little basis," the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy told reporters.

"I assure you that coordination with the United States is excellent, better than ever," he said. "Russia wants to divide us, and the United States will not play this game."

Speaking with him, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian reiterated his comments, saying Europe was at the forefront of talks to resume peace talks in eastern Ukraine and would not be isolated from unacceptable Russian demands.
