The Russian delegation arrived in Geneva to take part in negotiations with the United States on security guarantees, a TASS correspondent reported from the scene.
The interdepartmental delegation includes representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. On behalf of the Russian Foreign Ministry, it is headed by Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov. US diplomacy will be presented by US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman.
The main day of the talks is scheduled for Monday, January 10. But, as expected, the parties will hold a "preliminary" part of the meeting tonight.
On December 17, 2021, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs published draft agreements with the United States on security guarantees, as well as agreements on security measures for the Russian Federation and the countries of the North Atlantic Treaty. They were handed over to the American side on December 15.
