Tirana and Skopje should not part on the road to the EU, Bulgaria's veto is unjustified

Albanian President Ilir Meta said during an ongoing visit to Skopje that he would not like his country to be separated from the Republic of Macedonia on the path to EU membership talks.

In an interview with Skopje's TV 21, Meta stressed that the two neighboring countries must step up their efforts to work together on the road to the EU and find a solution with Sofia to unblock the start of talks, and that bilateral issues should not be an obstacle. for EU accession.

According to him, the Bulgarian veto on Macedonia is unjustified, because it is inadmissible for the bilateral issue to become an obstacle to EU enlargement, which would lead to the blocking of each member state at any time.

Meta said he would soon visit Bulgarian President Rumen Radev to discuss what could be done to find a solution to the Bulgarian-Macedonian dispute.

"I will never want to be separated (in the negotiations) because we are not only two neighboring countries, but we are extremely interested in the progress of Macedonia." "It pulls her back," Meta said.

The Albanian president is on a three-day visit to Macedonia.
