A new US Air Force hypersonic missile test failed

 


 A new test of the American hypersonic missile AGM-183A under the ARRW program (Air-Launched Rapid Response Weapon) failed, reports the specialized portal The War Zone, citing a representative of the US Air Force.

According to the data presented, the test of the missile was conducted on Thursday. It was supposed to be launched by the B-52 strategic bomber, where exactly - is not specified. It was expected to accelerate to five times the speed of sound.

 "The sequence of operations was interrupted before [the missile] was separated due to an unknown problem," said a spokesman for the US Air Force. According to him, "the rocket will be returned to the manufacturer, the analysis of telemetry and on-board data will begin immediately." The US military expects "to resume flight tests as soon as possible."

As the portal notes, this is the third failed test of this missile. Experts have not yet determined the causes of the accident. The US Air Force has not commented on the information.
