Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Zdravko Maric says he is in the process of drafting a law on the introduction of the euro, which is due to be published in mid-January and is expected to be adopted in April next year. “.
"With this law, it will be necessary to change 46 laws and more than 70 bylaws before the introduction of the euro," Maric told a conference on Croatia as part of the eurozone.
The government in Zagreb has set January 1, 2023, as the date on which Croatia must be ready to join the eurozone, and the announcement of a formal decision on Croatia's entry into the eurozone is expected in the middle of next year.
"From now on, Croatia is practically entering this final phase and we need to speed up the pace, because we have a lot of work to do," Maric said.
He added that a major adjustment is forthcoming in the financial sector and that it has one common denominator - "consumer information and protection as an integral principle of the whole process".
According to Maric, from August next year, the euro law will regulate the obligation to announce prices twice, which is one of the ways to alleviate inflationary pressures.
