Navalny chose to work as a "seamstress" in a penal colony

Alexei Navalny, who is serving a sentence in the Vladimir region in a case of fraud and money laundering, has decided to work in the colony as a "seamstress". He said he had enrolled in a tailoring workshop "closer to the masses", the Russian newspaper Kommersant reported.

In a statement on the social network Instagram, Navalny revealed that he chose between working as a day laborer, cook, baker, assistant and seamstress. "I will not bore you with discussing the intricacies of the prison profession. If you do not know anything, well - you do not need such knowledge. All I can say is that I like the picture of me being a baker - standing there, a ruddy man in a white hat with his hands on his hips, watching the bread rise in the oven and smiling thoughtfully at something. However, I decided to stay away from the nomenclature positions, "he wrote on the network.

Navalny draws attention to the fact that his chosen position is used only in the feminine. He also clarified that in the application for training and in all his documents it says "seamstress" and the profession has no other name.

And I said to myself, "Wasn't it you, Alexei, here on Instagram who laughs at feminists who don't want to be a 'blogger' and a 'male' author '... Well, now life is joking with you. What does it matter to you whether you are a seamstress or a tailor? So before I was not against feminists (ie words like "author" and "editor"), but I considered them insignificant nonsense and a serious reason for trolling, and now I strongly support the right of everyone to call themselves whatever they want. . After all, the language for this exists and it must be developed in accordance with the needs of society. "

In February, Navalny's suspended sentence in the Yves Rocher case was commuted to an effective one. The court found that he had violated the conditions of the probation period. The politician will spend two years and eight months in prison. A criminal case was opened in September against Navalny and his associates for creating an extremist community.
