A Polish minister has threatened that his country will stop contributing money to the EU budget

Poland must suspend its contributions to the EU budget and block the organisation's decisions in the event of a reduction in Brussels subsidies, Justice Minister Zbigniew Zebro said in an interview with britain's Financial Times.

"Poland must respond to the blackmail of the EU by vetoing all issues that require a unanimous solution. If the dispute continues, I will demand a suspension of payments to the organization's budget," the politician said.

He also suggested reviewing the country's participation in climate and energy programs. According to him, the European Union sets unfeasible conditions for Warsaw. Zebro also accused the European leadership of trying to change the government in the country.

"They have a clear message for Poles: if you support the current government, you will not receive funds. They do not care about the rule of law," the justice minister added.

Earlier, the Polish Constitutional Court confirmed the superiority of the Polish constitution over European law. The European Parliament said the court "has no legal force and independence and has no right to interpret the country's constitution". MEPs accused Warsaw of violating the rule of EU law and called on Brussels to launch legal proceedings against Poland immediately. They also proposed that she be denied funding for the national post-pandemic economic recovery plan.
