A volunteer fire brigade of nuns has been formed in Ukraine

The first volunteer fire brigade has started working in Ukraine, in which nuns from the Holy Trinity Motroninski Monastery in Cherkasy Oblast will serve. This was announced on December 22 by the local state emergency service, the Russian newspaper Izvestia notes.

"Five volunteers will respond to the calls - Abbess Ilaria, two of the novices of the monastery - Larissa and Christina, and two fire truck drivers," the statement said.

It is noted that in addition to ensuring the fire safety of the monastery, under the protection of volunteers will be seven more villages and two settlements, as the distance to the nearest fire service is about 20 km.

It is emphasized that the volunteers underwent special training, during which they practiced exercises in combat deployment, water supply and first aid to the victims.
