Blinken held productive talks with European counterparts on the Iranian nuclear deal

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has held a "productive" meeting with counterparts from Britain, Germany and France to discuss talks on a nuclear deal with Iran, a State Department spokesman was quoted as saying by Reuters.

The world powers and Iran resumed talks Thursday on reviving the nuclear pact. A European source said he was working on texts discussed five months ago, while Iranian officials said they were sticking to last week's firm stance.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said on Saturday that Tehran was serious in its nuclear talks with world powers in Vienna, the official IRNA news agency reported.

Indirect US-Iranian talks, mediated by diplomats from France, Britain, Germany, Russia and China, are being conducted in this way because Tehran is refusing direct contact with Washington. These diplomatic efforts are aimed at getting both sides to resume full compliance with the agreement.

"Secretary Blinken had a productive meeting with his E3 counterparts from Germany, France and the United Kingdom in Liverpool on Friday. "They discussed the negotiations on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPA) for Iran's nuclear program and our way forward," the State Department spokesman said, referring to the nuclear deal with Tehran.
