Britain's Brexit minister has resigned

Boris Johnson received another serious blow on Saturday night, when it became clear that the minister in charge of Brexit - Lord David Frost, resigned from the cabinet, writes the British newspaper The Guardian.

Lord Frost has said he is leaving the government after frustration with Brexit talks and wider concerns about the government's coronavirus policies and planned tax increases.

According to observers, this is another dangerous moment for Johnson, after a series of scandals and a humiliating defeat in last week's by-elections, in which his party lost a seat in parliament at the expense of a Liberal Democrat candidate.

Frost's departure is also another sign of major rifts in the Conservative party structures.

Lord Frost himself said at a conference last month: "I am very happy that a free Britain, or at least a cheerful England, is probably now the freest country in the world in terms of restrictions due to Covid-19. No masks, no Covid-passports for vaccines and stay that way for a long time. "

However, Frost also had to accept concessions on Brexit after the British government dropped its request not to allow the European Court of Justice to be the final arbiter of trade rules in Northern Ireland.

The government has also dropped its threat to trigger Article 16 of the Brexit agreement, which will suspend parts of it related to Northern Ireland.
