Brussels Airlines employees go on strike

Some of the staff of the Belgian national airline Brussels Airlines began a strike on Monday demanding better working conditions, RTBF reports.

"This [strike] will affect 25% of passengers, we have contacted all of them to find alternative solutions," said airline spokesman Kim Danen.

The airline will operate only half of the 116 flights scheduled for the day. Passengers whose flights are canceled will either be able to use other flights of the Lufthansa group, which owns Brussels Airlines, or travel with later flights of the airline.

"Priority was given to long-distance flights, which have no alternative, and flights with good employment," Danen explained.

According to RTBF, the company has been experiencing "acute social conflicts" in recent days. Working conditions at Brussels Airlines are unbearable, according to the United Trade Union Organizing Strike. It is specified that recently the time for rest between flights has been reduced, as well as salaries and some bonus payments.
