For the first time in 11 years, German Chancellor Angela Merkel did not top the american Forbes magazine's list of the 100 most influential women in the world. The rating was published on the official website of the publication earlier on Tuesday.
Merkel did not rank first for the first time since 2010 and for the third time since appearing on the political scene in 2004. Moreover, in 2021, Merkel is not included in this ranking at all.
The first place was taken by Mackenzie Scott, ex-wife of the head of the American corporation Amazon Jeff Bezos. According to the publication, her contribution to charity is estimated at more than 8.5 billion dollars. At the same time, the nonprofits to which Scott donates funds have complete control over how those donations are used.
Second place in the ranking was taken by US Vice President Kamala Harris. She became the first woman in the country's history to hold the post, as well as the first African-American to hold the post.
In third place in the ranking was the President of the European Central Bank Christine Lagarde. Until 2019, she headed the International Monetary Fund.
The rating also includes European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, US House of Representatives President Nancy Pelosi, IMF Director Kristalina Georgieva, Britain's Queen Elizabeth II, as well as tennis player Serena Williams, singers Beyonce and Taylor Swift.
