In the UK, a record waiting list of people in need of inpatient treatment is being formed

A record six million UK citizens are waiting for inpatient care in October, the highest level since statistics began in 2007, the London Evening Standard reported, citing data from the National Health Service (NHS). ).

The publication points out that the queue of patients has been steadily growing since May 2020, when it had 3.8 million people. The number of patients waiting for hospitalization for more than a year in October last year was 312.6 thousand compared to 167 thousand a year ago. In this regard, the NHS has obliged hospitals to deal by March 2022 with all cases in which patients wait for treatment in hospitals for more than two years.

In addition, more than 10,000 people spent more than 12 hours in the emergency department awaiting a doctor's appointment in October, up 37% from a year earlier.
