Kosovo's foreign minister has been barred from entering Serbia

Kosovo's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Donika Gervala has been banned from entering Serbia, pristina's Gazeta Express reported.

Authorities in Belgrade disapproved of her planned visit to the Presevo Valley, where she was expected to meet with representatives of Albanians living in Serbia.

"We asked for permission. The visit failed due to dishonest games in Belgrade. However, we will try to reschedule the dates for the visit, "a statement from the Kosovo Foreign Ministry said.

The director of the Serbian government's Kosovo service, Petar Petkovic, said earlier that Belgrade had approved a request by Prime Minister Albin Kurti's cabinet member to visit Bujanovac and Presevo without giving further details. Petkovic made a statement to the media at the Jarine border crossing after Kosovo authorities barred him from entering Kosovo.

"Unlike Pristina, which bans our entry, Belgrade acts responsibly and we abide by all agreements. Today we approved the visit of a member of the cabinet of Kurti's government to Presevo and Bujanovac, because we respect the agreements on freedom of movement and the agreement on official visits, which clearly shows that we want normalization of relations, we want to build peace and have good relations. "It is crucial for peace and stability in the Western Balkans," Petkovic said.
