NATO will not compromise Ukraine's right to join the Alliance

NATO does not intend to compromise with Russia on the right of Ukraine and Georgia to join the Alliance. This was emphasized by the Secretary General of the Military Organization of the West Jens Stoltenberg after a meeting with the new Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz, reports TACC.

"We are ready to sit with Russia at the negotiating table, but we are not ready to give up the right of the countries to join the Alliance," said the Norwegian, answering the question whether the organization is ready to give up the promise "at some point to "Ukraine and Georgia in NATO, which Allied leaders gave to Kiev and Tbilisi at the 2008 Bucharest summit. Russia's foreign ministry has warned that NATO must give up its ambitions."
