Norway bans the serving of alcohol in establishments in the fight against Omicron

Norway will ban the serving of alcohol in bars and restaurants, said Prime Minister Jonas Gar Store, as part of new restrictions on COVID-19, designed to stop the spread of the Omicron version, writes the European edition of Politico.

"There is no doubt that the new version changes the rules," Gar Store told a news conference, announcing the country's fourth round of measures in two weeks. "That is why we need to act quickly and we need to act again."

The government has also announced stricter rules for schools and the closure of gyms and swimming pools for the unvaccinated, as well as speeding up its vaccination campaign.

"For many, this will feel like a blockade, if not of society, then of their lives and livelihoods," he added.
