Polish authorities will prosecute a soldier who fled to Belarus

A criminal case for "desertion" will be filed against the soldier who sought asylum in Belarus, the Polish military gendarmerie wrote on Twitter, quoted by Interfax.

According to Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszak, the escaped soldier had "problems with the judiciary" and should not have been sent to serve at the border.

On Friday (December 17th), the Belarusian State Border Committee announced that a Polish serviceman had sought political asylum in Belarus. According to the ministry, Polish Army serviceman Emil Cecko, born in 1996, was stopped on the evening of December 16 by a Belarusian border guard at the border line at the Tushemlia border checkpoint on the Grodno border group.
