Porsche shows a 123-year-old electric car

The Porsche Museum has changed its permanent exhibition. Now the time travel through the company's history begins with a historic electric vehicle. What he sees in the beginning, when the visitor reached the last step of the escalator, is the oldest surviving car worked on by Ferdinand Porsche - Egger-Lohner C.2 from 1898.

Because the history of Porsche begins electrically. Ferdinand Porsche's fascination with electricity led to electromobility. 123 years ago, a machine with front axle control and an electric motor in the rear of the Lohner carriage rolled on the streets of Vienna for the first time. The modern history of Porsche shown in the museum is tied to this starting point and connects the past with the present.

The start of the new exhibition gives guests an overview of the stages of development over time. Thanks to the redesign of the prologue, the experience of visitors will be more diverse from the very beginning of the tour. Digital-analog productions alternated with educational entertainment and more interactivity in the period from Ferdinand to Ferry Porsche - from 1875 to 1949.

The guests are greeted by the area of the company's founder Ferdinand Porsche with the exhibits Lohner Porsche "Semper Vivus" and the fire truck Austro Daimler "Motorpritze". On the other hand, the Ferry Porsche area is dedicated to the production base in Gmünd in Carinthia. There, young and old can admire, among other things, the Type 360 "Cisitalia" and the 356 "No. 1" Roadster, the first sports car with the Porsche name from 1948 and the 356/2 Gmünd Coupe. N
