Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping will hold a video summit to discuss a wide range of topics, including the bilateral agenda and the aggressive rhetoric of the United States and NATO, TACC reports.
Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said he expected the conversation to be long, with initial speeches planned for the press. The speaker noted the crucial importance of the upcoming talks, adding that contacts between Putin and Xi Jinping have always been remarkable for their depth. After the talks, a briefing will be held by the Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation for International Affairs Yuri Ushakov.
According to Peskov, during the summit the leaders will exchange views on the international agenda. "The situation in international relations, especially on the European continent, is now very, very tense and, of course, requires discussion between the allies, between Moscow and Beijing," the Kremlin spokesman said. In addition, Peskov reiterated that the Russian Federation sees "very aggressive rhetoric from both NATO and the United States," which also requires discussion between Russia and China.
Putin and Xi Jinping plan to discuss the full range of bilateral relations, including energy, high-tech cooperation, joint ventures and trade. Traditionally, the leaders will also exchange views on regional issues, the Kremlin spokesman added.
