Mitsotakis is in Brussels for the European Council and the Eastern Partnership summit

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is leaving for Brussels today, where he will take part in the Eastern Partnership summit and the last European Council meeting of the year, according to the electronic edition of the Athens daily Efimerida.

The EU's cooperation with its eastern neighbors will be the focus of the sixth Eastern Partnership summit, which will be attended by Community leaders and those from five of the six partner countries. Belarus was not invited, as it withdrew from the group earlier in the year.

Mitsotakis will express Greece's support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Eastern Partnership partners. According to government sources, at the same time, the importance of bringing them into line with the decisions and statements of the EU's Common Foreign and Security Policy, especially those relating to the sovereignty, territorial integrity and sovereign rights of the Member States of the Community, will be emphasized.

The prime minister of our southern neighbor is expected to announce details of his recent meeting in Sochi with Russian President Vladimir Putin and stress that all countries must work for de-escalation, as none of them will emerge victorious in a possible conflict.
