Russia plans to ban non-environmentally friendly cars

The Russian government has developed a scenario to minimize the use of cars with environmentally friendly engines, writes the Russian newspaper "Kommersant", referring to the transport strategy until 2035.

According to the newspaper, this option is considered unalterable. The authors of the document pay great attention to the reduction of atmospheric emissions. One scenario involves a gradual reduction in the use of "low emission" vehicles.

Including by creating the so-called ecological zones, where the entry of cars with non-ecological engines will be prohibited, "the publication says.

After reviewing the document, the newspaper also noted plans to limit speed in residential areas, install noise screens and introduce "digital noise control methods".

The strategy, as Kommersant emphasized, mentions "organizing speed limits in accordance with the principles of special access", "promoting vehicle sharing" and "regulating and legally differentiating the conditions for the use of personal vehicles".
