Several hundred people protested in front of the Serbian government

Several hundred people again protested in front of the Serbian government building in Belgrade against Rio Tinto's intention to open a lithium mine, Beta reported.

Protesters waved flags of the Environmental Uprising movement and banners with various inscriptions.

Among those gathered were the organizers of the "Environmental Uprising", as well as the leader of "Together for Serbia" and the Open Civic Platform ACTION Nebojsa Zelenovic.

Organizers called on citizens to protest after the Rio Tinto mine was wiped out by Loznica's UZU, stressing it was a "successful step" but did not yet believe the authorities.

The Ecological Uprising movement is demanding the annulment of all administrative acts, location permits, decisions and decrees signed with the company, which, according to them, will formally and legally "expel" this company from the country.

They also called for an end to all proceedings for offenses and criminal cases against citizens involved in blockades, as well as for the prosecution of all "violence against protesters, both on Shabatsky Bridge and elsewhere."

Massive blockades have been staged in more than 50 places in Serbia over the past month over dissatisfaction with the Rio Tinto project and a controversial expropriation law, after which some previous organizers withdrew from the protest.
