The approach of the new Bulgarian Prime Minister is acceptable

The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, who is visiting Pristina on Wednesday, said on the issue between Skopje and Sofia, that the approach of the new Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov is acceptable, and in particular that history should not be the only channel for communication between the two countries, MIA reports.

"I accept the approach of the new Bulgarian Prime Minister, who advocates that history should not be the only channel through which we, as two neighboring countries, can communicate. We are talking about infrastructure, we are talking about energy connectivity, we are talking about economy and trade, we are talking about European integration, we are talking about human rights and freedoms, we are talking about a pandemic. But not to mention what happened three or five centuries ago. This is a modern approach, which I support, of course, I do not support the deadline, because it was announced for six months, I think that the problem between us can be solved in a much shorter period of time, "said Pendarovski.

At a joint press conference with Kosovo President Vyosa Osmani, he added that delaying the settlement of the issue between Macedonia and Bulgaria would not have a destabilizing effect on the country.

"If we do not receive a date for negotiations in the future and if the dispute with Bulgaria is not resolved and we remain in a situation where we will wait a long time in the EU waiting room, I do not believe in such a development, but if it happens, I assure you "There are such data, nor tomorrow there can be any that show destabilization of the security of the Republic of Macedonia," Pendarovski said in response to a journalist's question whether extending the start of talks could mean destabilizing the region and the country.

"Ten years later, in 2018, we solved the problem. There has been no destabilization of the country's security in those ten years. So I don't know where these assessments come from and what they are based on, but what I know and should know as the country's president in this part, there are no indications that if we wait for an unresolved dispute with Bulgaria ... there will be some and whether it is internal or external destabilization of the country. So, from this point of view, the citizens of our country can be calm, "Pendarovski concluded at a press conference with the Ottomans in Pristina.
