Austrian Chancellor Karl Nechamer opposes a political boycott of China's Winter Olympics. Austria opposes the politicization of the Olympics, Nechamer said in an interview with the German newspaper Welt. He explained that due to the high number of coronavirus infections in Austria, no visit by high-ranking Austrian politicians was planned.
However, Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler told the Austrian news agency APA that respect for human rights in China is the reason why he will not go to the Winter Olympics in China. He informed the International Olympic Committee two months ago.
