The head of the European Council stressed that the EU is ready to impose additional sanctions on the Russian Federation if necessary. "We are ready to impose additional sanctions if necessary," he said.

 European Commission (EC) President Ursula von der Leyen said that all participants in the EU-Eastern Partnership summit had called on Russia to de-escalate on the border with Ukraine. "We share the concern about the escalation of the Ukrainian border. "We call on Russia to de-escalate and refrain from any aggressive action," she said.
