The United States must learn to respect the key interests of China and Russia

On Wednesday, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin held their second video conference this year. This is the 37th meeting of the two leaders since 2013. From January to November, bilateral trade between China and Russia exceeded 843 billion yuan ($ 132 billion), up 24% from last year. The prospects for bilateral economic cooperation are also encouraging. The leaders of the two countries discussed a wide range of issues and expressed satisfaction with the ongoing development of Sino-Russian relations, writes the Chinese English-language edition of the Global Times in a material presented without editorial intervention.

The leaders' messages referred to bilateral relations and did not affect either the United States or the West, which has since followed the meeting closely, the newspaper said.

The West has recently escalated threats against Russia and China, portraying them as destructive forces in Ukraine and the Taiwan Straits, and has been urging it to remain vigilant against them as they "plan" an attack. He stepped up military and political pressure in an attempt to force Moscow and Beijing to withdraw from their core national interests.

Washington is making a historic mistake by putting pressure on both Russia and China at the same time. He was too engrossed in the expansion of egocentrism and the fabrication of false accusations that Moscow and Beijing were "violating international rules" and "challenging the international order." He made everyone believe this lie by entering into a dangerous confrontation with Russia and China.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Russia is clearly in a state of general strategic contraction as China advances in its peaceful development. Their disputes with their neighbors are caused by historical factors, and their significance is limited to the region. Other issues that the United States and the West have repeatedly raised are the internal affairs of China and Russia. They "deliberately misinterpret" these issues, increasing the confrontation between the parties.

However, keeping China and Russia together at the same time is a very ambitious idea. Although Washington has the advantage of power, they cannot defeat either Moscow or Beijing. A strategic confrontation with either side will be an unbearable expense for Washington. And if they unite, it will be a real American nightmare.

It is generally accepted in the United States that only if there is a strong external enemy in the country can domestic policy function properly. Otherwise, Washington will find itself in a situation where it will not know what to do. But US allies must not be infected with Washington's "obsessive-compulsive disorder" or share the risks of a new Cold War.

We must warn individual forces to play with fire, obeying US orders or even relying on US force to provoke China and Russia without predicting the end result. Better not test the strength of US promises to protect allies. If they cross the red line, their punishment will be inevitable, whether they are allies of the United States or not.

After its embarrassing flight from Afghanistan, America continues to threaten China and Russia, using the situation in the Taiwan Straits and Ukraine as an excuse. But since the United States has never promised to send troops in the event of war, the forces now provoking Moscow and Beijing on their orders must clearly understand that Washington is pushing them to the front lines until US troops intend to stand with them when an armed conflict breaks out.

China and Russia have made peaceful development a priority in their national strategies and are seeking to avoid conflict. The main reason the United States and the West think they are trying to "start a war" is that they have been pressured so hard that both sides now have to use some countermeasures and resist, and the West sees this as a risky provocation. It's time for him to try to "step back and see the whole picture."

Threats and pressure on a great power are extremely bad. It is especially unwise to do this against two great powers at the same time. Washington must learn to respect the key interests of other major nations. A global superpower should not be obsessed with power alone and think it can do anything. This is the main message that the United States needs to learn, and it is important for world peace.
