The US-Macedonia partnership and EU membership are very important for Skopje and Washington


 The Prime Minister of the Republic of Macedonia, Zoran Zaev, received Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs and Special Representative for the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar, who is on his first working visit to Skopje, Skopje-based TV 21 reported.

  At the meeting, Prime Minister Zaev briefed the guest on the current political situation in the country, emphasizing that there is a stable continuity of strategic political commitments to support the processes of Macedonia's active participation in NATO, to accelerate Macedonia's EU integration. on the fight against the pandemic, on economic growth and especially on the topical issue of an adequate and effective response to the energy crisis.

  Accompanied by US Ambassador to Skopje Kate Marie Burns, Gabriel Escobar said the visit was aimed at highlighting US support for the issue, as well as the partnership approach the Republic of Northern Macedonia is showing by hosting citizens. Afghanistan and its active role in significantly strengthening regional cooperation through the Open Balkans initiative.

  The meeting stressed the full support of the United States to find mutually acceptable answers to bilateral issues between the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Bulgaria due to the fact that Macedonia's future in the EU is a crucial topic for the United States, together with NATO the developing bilateral partnership between the two countries.
