At least 33 people have died in Typhoon Rai through the Philippines

At least 33 people have died in the Philippines during the Pacific Typhoon Rai, AFP reports.

Despite calls for evacuation, some people have been reluctant to leave their homes, leading to many deaths, the agency said, citing a government official.

Twelve deaths were reported earlier. According to the bulletin of the Hong Kong Meteorological Observatory, published on Thursday, the 22nd typhoon for this season, called "Paradise", has formed in the western Pacific Ocean and is approaching the Philippines. Residents of central Vietnam are preparing for the storm. The Vietnam National Coordinating Committee for Disaster Relief said on Friday that a storm warning had been issued in the region and all emergency services were on high alert.
