Brazilian court to test president's words on link between Covid-19 and AIDS vaccines

Brazil's Federal Supreme Court will investigate President Jair Bolsonaro for spreading allegations of a possible link between coronavirus vaccination and the detection of AIDS in vaccinated individuals, CNN Brazil reported.

The TV channel states that Judge Alexandri de Morais supported the proposal of the Commission of the Federal Senate (upper house of parliament), which is investigating the government's activities in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. "There is no doubt that the behavior of the President of the Republic regarding the spread of fake news about the vaccination against Covid-19 has to do with their widespread distribution on social networks," the television channel quoted the judge's decision.

In October, during his weekly live broadcast on social media, Bolsonaro quoted a publication on one of the websites as saying that those vaccinated against coronavirus in the UK were subsequently diagnosed with AIDS. The UK Ministry of Health has denied the speculation. The statements of the Brazilian leader have been removed from platforms owned by Meta, until recently Facebook.
