I advocate a careful approach in negotiations with Bulgaria, haste is not always the best ally

The thesis that we are applying systemic de-Bulgarianization is a serious accusation, which - of course, has nothing to do with reality. This was emphasized in his annual address to the deputies by the head of state of Macedonia Stevo Pendarovski, Skopje Echo reports.

In the part of the address dedicated to the relations with Bulgaria and its blockade of our European integration, Pendarovski was decisive: monitor the situation in our country, not to inform in their capitals about such a process, which, if any, would be tantamount to genocide.

Pendarovski added that in the current context, when macedonia's "red lines" are clear and Skopje is publicly defending them, it does not matter how long it will take for the truth to be revealed.

"Instead, we must be committed to key reforms at home, on which the quality of life of our citizens depends. I am in favor of a careful and thoughtful approach to negotiations, without sudden upheavals, because this is a matter of the utmost national interest, and when faced with a challenge of this caliber, haste is not always your best ally, "he said. our southwestern neighbor.

He added that recently in Bulgaria there is a new government and president with a new mandate, who send different messages.

"I completely agree with some of them. Namely, to shift the focus of our relations from the past to the present and instead of the ethnic feelings of the people of ten centuries ago, to talk about the future, energy and infrastructure connections and, for example, Corridor 8, which never competed with Corridor 10. to the detriment of both Macedonian and Bulgarian national interests, "Pendarovski concluded.
