Albanian President Ilir Meta welcomes Bulgaria's proposal to divide Tirana and Skopje on their path to joining the European Union, which will allow his country to move forward in the process, according to the online edition of the Macedonian newspaper Nezavisen.
Meta responded to Bulgaria's proposal by saying: "I welcome Bulgaria's position, which proposes the start of Albania's EU membership talks as soon as possible." He added that he was convinced that Macedonia had made "enormous progress in implementing reforms and reaching historic agreements such as the Prespa one".
"I welcome the dignified attitude of the Macedonian authorities to continue steadfastly in the pro-European course of reforms that serve the citizens and the aspiration for EU membership," he concluded.
