New rules for entering Austria come into force today


 

 From today, entry into Austria will only be allowed for those vaccinated against COVID-19 and recovering from the infection, and these categories of people must pass a negative PCR test for coronavirus. This was announced at the end of last working week by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country, recalls the national daily Der Standard.

"As of December 20, the mandatory 2P + rule (vaccinated, ill and PCR-tested) will be introduced for entry from all countries.

 An exception to the rule is made for vaccinated with a booster dose of vaccine, pregnant women with contraindications to the vaccine, transit travelers, students and travel to work in international organizations. To enter the country, they will only need a negative coronavirus test result.

Citizens of Austria and the rest of the European Union who have not been vaccinated or have not had a coronavirus must go through electronic registration and observe a 10-day quarantine. It can be stopped on the fifth day if a negative PCR test is presented.

 The Austrian Ministry of Health explained that restrictions are being introduced to prevent the spread of the new variant of the coronavirus - Omicron. The validity period of the PCR entry test should not exceed 72 hours. Angola, Zambia and Malawi have been added to the list of countries where dangerous variants of the coronavirus are spread. The landing of passenger planes from these countries is prohibited, the Ministry of Health announced.
