Russia-China relations are a model for cooperation in the 21st century

 

 Russian President Vladimir Putin called the relations between the Russian Federation and China a real example of interstate cooperation in the 21st century, TASS reports.

"I am glad to have the opportunity to have a direct video connection with you. This allows us to discuss in depth the development of Russian-Chinese relations, comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation. I consider these relations to be a real example of interstate cooperation in the 21st century, "the Russian head of state said, opening talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping via video conference.

 At the beginning of the meeting, Putin kindly waved to his colleague, calling Xi Jinping "his dear friend." The Chinese leader responded with a similar gesture and a wide smile.

"Despite ongoing sanitary and epidemic restrictions, we are in constant contact," Putin said. He recalled that the joint construction of four new nuclear power plants in China in video bridge mode began in May, and a video conference was held in June to mark the 20th anniversary of the great treaty of Russian-Chinese friendship. The Russian leader added that he and his Chinese counterpart had discussed "hot topics of international life, in particular the Afghan problem" over the phone.

 "This year in our relations has passed under the sign of the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Good Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation. It is being extended for a new five-year period, "said the President of the Russian Federation, emphasizing that the consistent implementation of this basic document, which fully reflects the deep historical traditions of friendship and mutual understanding between Russian and Chinese peoples, has made it possible unprecedentedly high level.

 As the President of the Russian Federation noted, the relations between the two countries are distinguished by their determination to turn the common border into a belt of eternal peace and good neighborliness.

"A new model of cooperation between our countries has been built, based, including, on principles such as non-interference in internal affairs and respect for the interests of the other, determination to turn the common border into a belt of eternal peace and good neighborliness," he said.

 Putin also noted the strengthening of trade and economic ties between Moscow and Beijing. According to him, in January-November this year the mutual trade between the two countries increased by 31% to $ 123 billion. "Thus, we have already broken the records of the pre-pandemic 2019. billion dollars ", assured the Russian head of state.

Putin recalled that the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China are implementing a number of large-scale joint projects in the energy sector, including nuclear, industrial and high-tech.

 Putin noted the contribution of co-operation between the two countries to maintaining stability in international relations.

"Close coordination between Russia and China on their actions on the world stage, a responsible joint approach to solving urgent global problems, have become an important factor for stability in international relations," Putin said.
