A battery of Russian modernized Pantsir-S1M air defense systems will arrive in Serbia soon. This was announced on Saturday by the president of our western neighbor Alexander Vucic, quoted by TASS.
"What do we have now and what did we not have before? We didn't have Pantsir, Kornets, we had a MiG-29 that didn't always take off, now we have 14 serious MiG-29 fighters of 4+ generation. We used to have four Orao bombers [Soko J-22] in reserve, now we have 10 and we are working on another 4 + 4 to become 18. But this strengthens mostly air defense [defense], suffice it to say that we have two Pantsir-C1 batteries and another Pantsir battery arrives, the latest, modernized [Pantsir-C1M], "the Serbian leader said.
From 2018 to February 2020, Russia handed over to Serbia as military technical assistance four Mi-35M helicopters, six MiG-29 fighters, three Mi-17V-5 transport helicopters, Pantsir-C1 anti-aircraft missile systems, 30 72MS tanks and 30 BRDM-2MS armored personnel carriers.
