The price of gas exceeded 1,700 dollars per 1,000 cubic meters for the first time since October

 


 The spot price of gas in Europe on Thursday, December 16, reached its highest level since October 6, according to the London Stock Exchange ICE Futures, writes the Russian newspaper "Vedomosti".

The price of a futures contract for gas for delivery in January in the Dutch hub TTF at 19:05 Moscow time (18:05 Bulgarian time) was 1705 dollars per 1000 cubic meters. By 19:15 Moscow time, quotations fell to $ 1653 per thousand cubic meters. On December 15, gas prices in Europe rose to $ 1,550 per 1,000 cubic meters. 

 The second half of spring saw a significant rise in gas prices in Europe. On October 6, the futures market set a historic record - almost $ 2,000 per thousand cubic meters - amid low occupancy of European underground storage facilities before the heating season and high demand for liquefied natural gas in Asia. On December 13, gas prices rose to $ 1,380 per 1,000 cubic meters, a record increase since October 5, after the German Foreign Ministry announced that there were no grounds to launch Russia's Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline in the near future due to non-compliance. its with the requirements of European legislation.
