The United States will provide $ 20 million to strengthen Ukraine's border

 


 The State Border Service of Ukraine (SFSU) and the US Embassy have signed a joint plan to strengthen security in the northern and eastern sections of the Ukrainian border, for the implementation of which will be provided assistance of $ 20 million, reports TACC.

"The start of the project begins in January 2022, and the total amount of aid is estimated at $ 20 million," the State Border Service quoted the representative of the US Embassy in Ukraine Sarah Langenkamp.

 She noted that the project provides technical assistance to border guards to effectively counter emerging threats to Ukraine's national security, including the possibility of providing the State Border Service with unmanned aerial vehicles, special vehicles, video surveillance equipment, communications, equipment and more.

The first deputy chairman of the department Vladimir Nikiforenko called the signed document "a plan of joint actions to implement and increase the capacity of the State Border Service."

 According to him, it is primarily a matter of ensuring the urgent and priority needs of the linear units of the state border, protection of personnel, ensuring personal safety, comfort of living in the field, high quality performance of tasks at the state border. . "Today we have a very complicated situation in eastern Ukraine, along the northern borders, and this technical cooperation project is precisely aimed at increasing border security," Nikiforenko said.
