Zoran Zaev will resign by Wednesday

 


 The Prime Minister of the Republic of Macedonia, Zoran Zaev, is likely to resign as prime minister in parliament on Wednesday. The new prime minister is expected to be the new SDSM leader, Dimitar Kovachevski. Radmila Shekerinska and Venko Filipche announced their departure from the government with Zaev, and new names are expected for the Ministries of Education, Labor and Social Affairs, Interior, Skopje's MKD online newspaper reported.

From Wednesday, Kovachevski will have 10 days to propose the composition of the next government. Defense Minister Radmila Shekerinska said two days ago that she was leaving office and recalled that she had long disagreed with the SDSM's current policy.

 Dentist Bekim Sally of Alternative is the likely successor to Health Minister Venko Filipce. He also announced his resignation from party functions. It is unofficially known that Deputy Prime Minister for Fighting Corruption Ljupco Nikolovski is leaving the government, who will probably no longer be the SDSM's chief secretary. It is not known if and who would succeed Oliver Spasovski as interior minister. The SDSM unofficially says that the departure of Mila Tsarovska from the post of Minister of Education is more than certain.

 A meeting of the SDSM Central Council is to be held next week to elect the new SDSM leadership, after which it will be determined who the future deputy chairmen will be and who the new general secretary of the party will be. The name of Mile Zecevic is mentioned for this position.

 "These days we are concluding the consultations with the coalition partners. What I can say is that important processes are being completed, both in terms of programming and staffing. I will take the decision to withdraw at the beginning of next week and I will announce exactly when it will be formalized before the parliament ", said the resigned Prime Minister Zoran Zaev.

After Zaev's resignation, the entire government will resign.
