A meeting of the CSTO leaders will be held online on January 10

 


 A video conference of the leaders of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is scheduled for Monday, January 10, the press service of the Armenian government told RIA Novosti. Armenia is the rotating chairman of this organization.

On Saturday, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in a telephone conversation with Vladimir Putin that Yerevan, as chairman of the organization, would convene a meeting of the Collective Security Council. This proposal was made earlier by Kazakh President Kasim-Jomart Tokayev.

 Against the background of the events in Kazakhstan, he asked the CSTO allies for military assistance and they sent collective peacekeeping forces to the republic. Their contingent consists of Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Russia, Belarus and Tajikistan. The combined group is led by Colonel-General Andrei Serdyukov, commander of Russia's Airborne Forces.
