Gazprom signals that gas storage facilities in Europe are at an all-time low

The reserves of natural gas in Europe's underground storage facilities are at a minimum level for this season compared to the long history of observation, Vzglyad writes, citing a statement from the Russian gas giant Gazprom.

At the same time, it is specified that Europe has withdrawn from its underground storage facilities more than half of the volume of gas pumped last year - 55.6%, or 26.6 billion cubic meters as of January 10.

"According to Gas Infrastructure Europe, more than half of the gas purchased last year has already been pumped from underground storage facilities in Europe. As of January 10, the pumping reached 55.6% or 26.6 billion cubic meters of gas, Gazprom said in a statement.

On December 20, Gazprom stopped reserving the capacity of the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline to Germany. At the same time, reverse gas supplies from the pipeline from Germany to Poland quadrupled. Russian President Vladimir Putin explained that Gazprom does not maintain the capacity of the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline, as there are no requests from European consumers.
