The Russia-NATO meeting in Brussels is over

The NATO-Russia (NRC) meeting in Brussels ended on Wednesday. The talks lasted about four hours, a TASS correspondent reported.

In NATO, a little less time was allotted for the meeting, as the briefing of the Secretary General of the Alliance Jens Stoltenberg after the meeting was originally scheduled for 13:30 local time, while the meeting began at 10:00. But in the end the briefing was postponed to 14:15.

The NRC meeting was the second stage of consultations between Russia and Western countries on Russia's proposals for European security. The first stage - the negotiations between the Russian Federation and the United States - took place in Geneva on January 10, the third stage within the OSCE will be held in Vienna on January 13. The Russian delegation in Brussels is headed by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko and Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin. On behalf of NATO, First Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman, Alliance Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and Permanent Representatives of 30 Allies in Brussels are taking part in the talks.
