Moscow sends Deputy Minister Grushko to the Russia-NATO Council

Russia's Foreign Ministry will be represented in talks with NATO on January 12 in Brussels by Deputy Minister Alexander Grushko, Vzglyad reports.

"The delegation consists of representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the military. I will head the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, "Grushko said. He added that NATO statements on plans to hold an emergency video conference of foreign ministers a day before the Russia-NATO (NRC) meeting spoke of an attempt by the North Atlantic Alliance to increase tensions over the conflict in Ukraine.

"We expect such steps from the Alliance. The NRC has usually always been preceded either by a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Commission or by a meeting of the North Atlantic Council. These are some of the signals that NATO is sending us that they are concerned about the alleged concentration of Russian forces. All this fits into their line aimed at increasing tensions over the internal Ukrainian crisis, the line of positioning Russia as a party to the conflict. There is nothing surprising here, "he explained.
